Mechanical Design Engineer III-Principal

Summary of Responsibilities

Independently perform analysis and design activities in support of the facility, engineering programs and projects. Utilizing basic and advanced engineering fundamentals, as assigned, perform owner acceptance reviews of design packages developed by external design agencies. Develop design modifications for facility changes. Perform other engineering activities required to support facility design, configuration control, and operation.

Education and Experience

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering 

  • 5 years of related engineering work experience.

Preferred:

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university.

  • 8-10 years of related work experience, including 2 years in a nuclear facility.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license by accredited examination.

  • HVAC, Compression Design Engineering a plus

Job Details

  • Location : Urenco USA, Eunice, NM

  • Work Schedule: Professional schedule with minimal night/weekend support. Some call-outs may be required.

  • Travel : Up to 15%

  • Security Clearance: CAA Access and L or Q level clearance required

  • Work Environment: Radiological exposure <>

Primary Functions

  • Develop and maintain knowledge of facility’s design and licensing basis.

  • Resolve technical problems using established procedures and vendor documentation.

  • Perform analysis, calculations, and develop designs for engineering projects.

  • Conduct field walkdowns and develop plant modification packages.

  • Review engineering and technical documents, including 10 CFR 70.72(c) reviews.

  • Interpret engineering specifications and drawings.

  • Develop and revise procedures to support program implementation.

  • Mentor junior engineers and provide project leadership.

  • Collaborate with other departments to resolve technical issues.

  • Apply sound engineering judgment and maintain regulatory compliance.

Compensation starting at: $108,808 - $162,979 / year and up dependent on candidate.
