Summary of Responsibilities
This is a craft skilled position requiring a thorough understanding of safe work practices, troubleshooting, and maintenance of process Refrigeration equipment and building HVAC systems. Under direct supervision, will execute work assignments in accordance with approved procedures, work orders, or supervisory direction, adhering to all safety requirements (chemical, industrial, radiological, criticality safety, etc.). This position creates value for the facility by performing modifications and preventative and corrective maintenance leading to increased uptime and reliability, thus helping the facility to meet their production and quality goals.
Education and Experience
Minimum Education
- High School Diploma
- HVAC technical school certification
- Associates degree in HVAC-R, or related technical field.
- Experience in pipefitting and brazing, ability to use hand tools and interpret technical manuals and electrical schematics
- Familiar with electrical controls, wiring diagrams as related to HVAC
- Experience with air cooled screw chillers
- Able to troubleshoot and repair packaged and split system HVAC units up to 150 tons.
- Ability to operate lifting equipment
- Strong problem solving skills
Preferred Skills:
- EPA-Sec 608 universal
- Journeyman Refrigeration Certification
- Must have strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Must be able to represent the site on regulatory matters and articulate compelling arguments.
- Must be familiar with NRC’s enforcement program.
Job Details
- The work location for this position is Urenco USA, Eunice, NM.
- Work Schedule: Professional work schedule/ with minimal night/ weekend support. Some nights and weekend work may be required. Employees are also subject to call-outs as needed.
- Travel Required: 10% of the time or less as required.
- Security Clearance Requirement: Controlled Access Area (CAA) Access and an L or Q level security clearance is required.
- Work Environment: Radiological exposure expectations of < 100 mrem/yr. General Office, Plant Production Areas and outdoor work. This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets etc.
- This position will require working indoors and outdoors at all temperatures.
- This position may require the employee to walk long distances (up to 3 miles) throughout the day, and stand for periods up to 4 hours.
Primary Functions

- Perform process equipment preventative, corrective and troubleshooting activities. Repair and maintain all equipment in accordance with plant procedures adhering to URENCO's policies regarding safety, maintenance, operations, and procedural compliance.
- Prepare work assignments in accordance with approved procedures, work orders, or supervisory direction, adhering to all safety requirements (chemical, radiological and criticality safety etc). Create task instructions and assist Planners in the creation of work orders. Update procedures to ensure they are accurate, safe and workable.
- Complete documentation of work assignments in a real time manner to aid in the configuration management of the facility.
- Attain and maintain qualifications for position through timely participation in training in accordance with UUSA maintenance training program. Complete field on the job training (OJT) and qualifications required in system operations, theory, and component specific training to maintain proficiency.
- Conduct training in order to assist other technicians complete qualifications or maintain proficiency as needed.
- Assist in lesson plan development and administering classroom training.
- Attend pre-job briefs and conduct job hazard analysis for work that is to be performed.
- Attend meetings to freely discuss issues and share relevant operational experiences. Provide solutions and address any safety concerns prior to commencing work or evolutions.
- Participate in post-job debriefings providing lessons learned and suggested work practice improvements.
- Conduct tests in support of site priorities. Assist other departments and provide support for tests, evaluations, audits, and drills
- Accurately document work/performance history (aids in facility configuration management), including equipment logs that record performance problems, repairs, calibrations and retests as applicable
- Effectively communicate an on-going status of work and address concerns to supervision. Immediately report defects, deficiencies, or anomalies within the facility to supervision and follow the corrective action protocol as directed by maintenance supervision. - Maintain fitness for duty as a member of the FIN team. Responsible for responding to emergent work actions deemed necessary to maintain plant production or safety per the Shift Manager
- Ensure compliance with all necessary procedural requirements to support construction IAW all safety requirements, design requirements, schedule expectations, cost estimates and quality requirements
- Interface with regulatory and government agencies / offices.
